Remember when the only people who cared about the natural environment were tree huggers and hippies? Those days are over, and it seems we all recognize our role in stopping and conceivably reversing the damage being done to our planet. The experts are agreed that we are unable to change things for the better without everyone's active contribution. These adjustments need to start happening, and each individual family needs to become more environmentally friendly. Here are a number of tips that can help you save energy, primarily by making your kitchen more green.

Perhaps the food is not quite as good when cooked in the microwave, however it will save you money to use it over your oven. Maybe the realization that an oven utilizes 75% more energy will motivate you to use the microwave more. Countertop appliances will certainly boil water or even steam vegetables faster than your stove, and use a lot less electricity. You would be forgiven for thinking that an automatic dishwasher uses more energy than washing dishes the old-fashioned manner, but you would be wrong. A dishwasher is especially efficient when it's full before a cycle is going. Don't dry the dishes using heat, use the cool dry or air dry options to increase the money you save.

As you can see, there are lots of little elements that you can do to save energy, as well as save money, in the kitchen alone. It is reasonably straightforward to live green, all things considered. Typically, all it will take is a bit of common sense.
