  1. Cook Toor dal, mash them and keep aside Heat ghee in Kadai add mustard seeds. Allow them to crackle completely. Now add cumin seeds and saute for a minute..
  2. Add curry leaves, garlic slices. Once garlic sautes for a minute add chopped onion. Saute until onion turns light. Add green chilli, hing, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and little salt..
  3. Once masala raw smell goes off add the chopped tomato close with lid and cook until tomato mashes and comes to thick gravy. This is the correct time to add dal and water. Add a mix nicely. Let it boil for 5 minutes in low flame..
  4. Adjust the salt level. Add the chopped coriander leaves and allow it to boil for 2 minutes in same simmer level. Serve hot with rice and a dollop of ghee..
